Heather Michaud is a Foreign Service officer with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). She holds a BA and MA from the University of Calgary. Since 2000, she has served in Canada’s international migration offices in Lebanon, Singapore, India, the USA, and Kenya. Her work has taken her into many other countries served by those offices, to interview refugees and prospective immigrants. She has also worked at IRCC headquarters in Ottawa. Her current role is as IRCC’s Employer Liaison Network (ELN) officer for British Colombia. The ELN helps Canadian employers learn how the immigration system can be used to support their hiring needs and help drive economic growth. ELN officers across Canada provide up-to-date information for both temporary and permanent economic immigration programs as well as Express Entry.

Join a panel of government representatives from Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and the Ministry of Jobs, Trade and Technology (BC PNP) who will provide an overview of provincial and federal programs for employers in the hospitality industry who need to hire foreign workers.
Speakers will touch on the employer’s role in work permits, Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs), and immigration programs leading to permanent residence for employees. The session will include an opportunity for participants to pose questions for the panel.
