BC Hotel Association and the Alliance of Beverage Licensees are pleased to announce our second annual hospitality industry annual awards:

  • Hotelier of the Year
  • Liquor Retailer of the Year
  • Publican of the Year

These awards celebrate British Columbia’s hospitality industry professionals and recognize the province’s most exceptional and committed hoteliers, liquor retailers, and publicans. The awards will be presented at the BC Hospitality Summit Awards Gala Dinner (tickets for just the dinner will be available) on Monday, April 23, 2018.

Award Descriptions

HOTELIER OF THE YEAR
The British Columbia Hotel Association’s Hotelier of the Year award celebrates BC’s most exceptional and outstanding hoteliers. Winning Hotelier of the Year is a career highlight. This award is given to an individual displaying the management, leadership, and communications skills required to manage a hotel at the highest levels of excellence, along with a commitment to employees, community, and the industry at large.

LIQUOR RETAILER OF THE YEAR
Managing a retail location (or chain of stores) while satisfying customers and turning a profit is difficult, especially in today’s changing industry. That’s why we’re looking for the best of the best – retailers who take pride in their business, care about their customers and employees and stay involved in their community and the industry at large. If your business fits those criteria, we encourage you to nominate yourself as a Liquor Retailer of the Year candidate. If you know of a retailer who should be honoured, you can also nominate someone else.

PUBLICAN OF THE YEAR
Managing a liquor primary while satisfying customers and turning a profit is difficult, especially in today’s changing industry. That’s why we’re looking for the best of the best – operators who take pride in their business, care about their customers and employees and stay involved in their community and the industry at large. If your business fits those criteria, we encourage you to nominate yourself as a Publican of the Year candidate. If you know of a publican owner or operator who should be honoured, you can also nominate someone else.

Award Criteria

  1. Industry Influence and Engagement: has the candidate or his/her establishment made a significant impact or contributions to the hotel or liquor industry in British Columbia? Through creative and innovative techniques and processes, how has the individual or his/her business contributed to elevated guest or customer service methods and satisfaction, and enhanced employee retention and morale that has positively impacted not only the establishment but has also been a benchmark setting trend in the industry.
  1. Significant Innovations and Accomplishments: illustrate the key innovations and achievements for the individual over the assessment period
  1. Community Spirit: has the individual contributed significantly personally and through his/her organization resources to the community at large, including participation in civic, communities, charitable, educational and other affairs, which illustrate social responsibility?

The British Columbia Hotel Association (BCHA) along with the Board of Directors is pleased to announce the launch of the inaugural BC Hotel Association Housekeeping Awards.

This is an amazing opportunity to celebrate the teams that look after your guests and make your property outstanding!

We invite you to nominate your team for these awards. Use the form attached below to enter.

Entries must be received by January 22nd, and award recipients will be notified by January 31st, to provide ample time to plan to attend the awards dinner in Whistler (April 23rd, 2018).
In identifying properties to receive the Housekeeping Awards, the BCHA considers brand Guest Service Index (GSI) scoring system or hotel proprietary GSI reports as the driving measure. These reports provide a comprehensive view of your guests’ experience.
Award criteria will focus on:
  • Overall cleanliness
Properties must be a current member of BCHA and have been in operation for a minimum of 3 months to qualify.
